After completing matric in Pretoria, Charlene began her tertiary studies at Rhodes University in Grahamstown. In 2003, she completed her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Media Studies, specialising in Writing and Editing. Her passion for writing has seen her working across various fields of interest, including two regional newspaper groups, a news agency, a freelancing company and the South African National Treasury. Recent experience includes working in the United Kingdom as a copywriter for QVC UK. She is also a freelance writer for various South African magazines, including Fairlady, Longevity, Oprah, Cosmopolitan, House & Leisure and Fresh Living magazine. Her strongest skills are in creative writing, editing, creating effective powerpoint presentations and website content management. Her sentiments as a writer echo those of Isaac Asimov, who once said, "If the doctor told me I had only six minutes left to live, I'd type a little faster."
