Yvonne Wabatagore“In Zimbabwe, I am known as my mother’s independent child,” says Yvonne Wabatagore, otherwise known as Vonney. “I have always been an independent thinker and a go-getter.” True to her free spirit, Yvonne left Zimbabwe to study her undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town, in Social Science. After completing her degree, she returned to Zimbabwe, where she helped transform her parents business using her newly acquired skills to structure the venture, through effective strategy workshops. She then returned to South Africa and completed her honours course in Organisational Psychology, focusing on Change Management and Development. Previous experience includes working as a volunteer co-ordinator for Students Health and Welfare Organisation (SHAWCO), teaching grade 11 and 12 pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, basic computer skills. “I believe very strongly in skills transfer, especially to those less fortunate,” she says. “And just knowing that I was part of the process of empowering those children was so fulfilling.” She now works for DEVELOPMENT WORKS as a researcher and is currently completing a Project Management diploma. She intends on pursuing a Masters in Project Management shortly. Her extensive psychological, analytical and organizational skills add significant value ensuring from an HR and OD perspective. She is currently an Associate to DEVELOPMENT WORKS in Johannesburg.
